Two weeks after releasing the beta, OrcaSlicer, the community-developed fork of Bambu Studio, is closer to releasing the final version 2.1.0 with the release of the release candidate.
Release candidates are usually meant to iron out the kirks before the final release. Yet, OrcaSlicer is adding a few new features:
- Allow opt-out outer walls when adjusting speed for “slow-down for layer cooling”
This creative slowdown approach enhances printing quality by reducing layer inconsistency due to varying print speeds. It specifically improves the quality of gloss-like materials by ensuring consistent outer wall print speeds. Variations in speed can impact the filament’s melting time, affecting the shine of the outer walls.
- Thumbnails feature enhancement
- Better 3D navigator; the view cube looks better
- Take filament flow ratio into account when displaying flow value in gcode legend
