On August 8, 2024, Stratasys, the American-Israeli company that is the original patent holder for fused deposition modeling (FDM) and the owner of MakerBot and Ultimaker, filed a lawsuit against Bambu Lab for patent infringement in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division.

In the lawsuit against Bambu Lab, Stratasys alleges that they have infringed on multiple patents (including but not limited to heat bed, purge towers, enclosure, and data tags in filament spools) that Stratasys holds.
