Two days ago, a user posted a YouTube demonstration of a new app they had been developing to control your printer from an iPhone. Unlike Bambu Handy, this new app only lets you control your printer if it is in LAN-only mode. As a reminder, Bambu Handy only works if your printer is connected to Bambu Lab Cloud.

From the video, the application seems feature-packed. Compared to Bambu Handy, it seems only to miss the integration with MakerWorld. Here are all the functionality listed by the developer:

  • Live Camera Feed
  • Real-Time Print Monitoring
  • Browse the SD Card
  • AMS Support
  • Start, Stop, and Pause Prints
  • Adjust Print Speed
  • Move and Home the Printer
  • Retract and Extrude the Hotend
  • Set Hotend and Bed Temperatures
  • Control the Chamber Light
  • Upload to the SD Card
  • Download from the SD Card
  • Support multiple printers

Since this is all local, no cloud service is involved, and you cannot connect to your printer remotely without a VPN. The developer is demonstrating the use of Tailscale, but any similar service should work just as well.

The application has still not been officially released, and the developer doesn’t know how they will price it. Yet, if you are interested in trying it out, you can join the public beta on TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/VXBxZYNr
