Since Maker World launched in 2023, everything on it has been free and open for personal use. However, Bambu Lab claims that being able to offer and purchase commercial licenses through MakerWorld has been the number one request from the community.
Nevertheless, in order to keep MakeWorld open and free for personal use, Bambu Lab decided not to hide content behind a paywall. Instead, creator will be able to offer a commercial license for others to print and sell their work. The license cost can range from $3 to $300, billed monthly. It is entirely up to the creator to set the price and conditions.
MakerWorld will take a 10% platform fee, on top of the payment provider fees (currently, only PayPal is supported).
If you are interested in offering a commercial license, know that at the moment you need to have:
- at least 200 followers
- 600 prints
- no rule violations in the past 90 days (except for incorrect reports)
If you are not on MakerWorld yet but are a well established creator on other platform, you can contact MakerWorld directly to join the platform at: models@makerworld.com.
