On their forum, MakerWorld has announced their next design contest. On April 15th, a design contest around the primary objective of this upcoming contest is to highlight the precision and accuracy of prints and models using a 0.2mm nozzle.
MakerWorld stated that this contest would run longer than the previous ones and that the awards would be even more generous. However, they didn’t go into detail about this.
They encourage all contest entries to focus on showcasing the intricate detail and complexity that can be achieved with a 0.2mm nozzle. To do so, they give some tips:
- Include a comparison between the outcome of a 0.4mm nozzle(or other specs) and a 0.2mm nozzle.
- Illustrate a 0.2mm Nozzle’s functionality and practicality.
If you don’t know what you could model, they provide you with some ideas for potential entries:
- Gaming Tokens/Mini-figs
- Dollhouse Furniture/Utensils
- Casino Gadgets (chips, dice, etc)
- Shoe charms
- Miniature replicas (Focus the display on detailed parts)
If you whish to participate, MakerWorld is giving tips on how to print best using 0.2 nozzle.
- Make sure to completely dry your filaments
- Make sure to lower your layer height for your designs. Your layer height should not exceed 0.16mm when printing with a 0.2mm nozzle
- You may want to slow down your printing speed just a bit
- Make sure to check filament compatibility before printing (see image below)

Finally, MakerWorld will be very thorough regarding the 0.2 nozzle criteria. It is crucial that the entries and print profiles you submit clearly indicate that the model was printed with a 0.2mm nozzle. Their team will conduct test prints to verify nozzle size, and any discrepancies will lead to disqualification.
